Sagargad fort is located near Alibag of Raigad district of Maharashtra. It is open 24 hours for the people to visit

The path to the fort starts from Khandale village on Alibag-Pen Road. This fort can be visited all round the year. A gentle walk of 2 hours from the village Khandale can reach us up to the fort.



HISTORY

This fort was won by Maratha King Raje Chhatrapati Shivaji from Adilshah Empire in 1660 AD.

by B1713. Prisoners sentenced to death were said to be hurled down from the monkey point of the fort.


ROUTES

To reach Sagargad Fort yu should choose the route Bengaluru- Mumbai Highway - Mumbai PUne expressway which is of 133.7 kms. The expected time to reach from Mumbai or Pune is 3 hrs 30 mins and 3hrs 52 mins respectively.



Sagargad is one of the great forts of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and also to have the best trekking experience this will be the best choice if you are a person fond of trekking and campings. There is a small temple of Mahishasurmardini and a water tank on the way. Also, there is "Dodhane" waterfall on the way. The beauty of the waterfall can be seen in Monsoon. There is a Siddheshwar monastery on the Sagargad machi. The pedestrians can make a night halt in the monastery.
